The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic), in conjunction with the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), the Association of European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX), the International Society of Exposure Sciences (ISES) and Chemical Week, is offering a €100,000 award to support promising new research in the field of environmental sciences related to ecological risk assessment.The competition covers the broad field of environmental sciences with particular focus on:

• A better (mechanistic) understanding of ecological effects
• Rethinking established assumptions and hypotheses
• Bringing back ecology in Ecotoxicology
• Innovative approaches to testing and risk assessment procedures

Other aspects include but are not limited to:

• Exploiting field biology/ecology knowledge to the issue
• Exploiting ecotoxicological laboratory alternatives
• Novel population and ecosystem modelling
• Deadline for applications: 18 March 2011
